Grand Opening and Support for LORDA Park
Date: May 10, 2012
The Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of National Defence and Member of Parliament for Central Nova, participated in the grand opening of a new multipurpose facility at the Lansdowne Outdoor Recreational Development Association (LORDA) wildlife park on May 5th. A $69,898 investment through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) has helped LORDA construct a multipurpose facility on their wildlife recreational park site in the small rural community of Lansdowne.
'Our government is proud to support this important community asset here in Pictou County,' said Minister MacKay. 'The wilderness park is a special place where local people and visitors alike can enjoy the beauty and the health benefits of interacting with nature, and the new facility will add to the park's tourism appeal and enrich the quality of life of area residents for years to come.'
'This new multipurpose building will allow us to extend our operating season, increasing visitation to our wilderness recreational park, as well as enhancing the programs we offer,'said Ray Levangie, LORDA President. 'We will be able to host community groups, sports teams, and other organizations which serve our community, and bring young and old together in a place where they can have unique experiences.'
